On a perfect example of this snowdrop all six petals will resemble inner petals; on other occasions none or one or two of the outer petals may be replaced by inner petals

We have cheated slightly with the photograph in order to try and show a “perfect” example; my actual plant only had four petals which resembled inner petals and two normal outer petals, which we have removed
