When the weather conditions are sunny the warmth causes the outer segments to rise to and sometimes above the horizontal, giving this snowdrop its unique appearance, which gave rise to the name. The inner mark is a crisp V and two very pale “eyes”, while the ovary is a pale olive-green in colour.
